We were privileged with the task of crafting this magnificent feature staircase for the new children’s hospital here in Wellington. The new child health service is named, Te Wao Nui a Tāne, which translates to the great forest, and reflects the ecosystem of health services designed for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau of central New Zealand. This 7.3m tall feature tree staircase is made from oak and with 76 shaped branches and 25 steps curving around its trunk. You can see the tree rise from the foyer on the ground level, all the way up to Level 3.
